Altenew March 2023 Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop #2 + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Altenew Spark Joy: Sweet Strawberries Foiling Kit + handmade card

The March 2023 Altenew Spark Joy release is pure sweetness! These strawberries are just adorable and I had so much fun creating my cards. Today’s post is part of a HOP for the Marvelous Monthly series and there are wonderful prizes along the way.

Hot Foiling + Coloring Stencils

For my two cards I am using Altenew’s Sweet Strawberries Hot Foil Plates and Coloring Stencils. The darling sentiment is included with the kit.

Rainbow Foil + Coordinating Coloring Stencils on an Altenew Spark Joy Sweet Strawberries handmade card

For my first sweet card, I used rainbow foil with my plates and then I “colored” the images with the coordinating coloring stencils and Altenew Crisp Dye Ink. I LOVE coloring with stencils and with the slick cardstock (I used Yupo Paper on card #1), the blending is so easy. I got a great result foiling on Yupo paper. It isn’t bright white, but is a bit creamy and I love the soft result.

Altenew Sweet Strawberries Hot Foil Kit + handmade card.

For Card #2, I used X-Press It Blending Cardstock, black foil and I also added some black enamel dots. The X-Press It paper is whiter, but the foiling on the Yupo paper (Card #1) was flawless.

Altenew | Linear Life Tropical Garden

I love the modern look of these loose sketchy outline flower stamps! They are very versatile and would work great on clean and simple projects but I also plan to use it on some mixed media cards.

I started again by ink blending my background. I used the three lightest colors in Altenew’s Glacier Cave Mini Cube Set. I masked off a frame with washi tape and then started in the bottom right with Arctic and then moved darker toward the top left corner. I stamped the flowers and leaves with black pigment ink. Once the outlines were dry, I stamped the flower centers with Caribbean Sky Crisp Dye Ink. I die cut the blooms, assembled with foam tape and then added Glacier Caves Enamel Dots to finish the project.

Altenew | Craft Your Life Watercolor Flowers

Altenew Craft Your Life Watercolor Flowers Project Kit handmade card.

Altenew’s Craft-Your-Life Watercolor Flowers

I love Altenew’s Subscription kits and this month’s Craft Your Life Subscription Kit does not disappoint. It’s called Watercolor Flowers and there are two big beautiful stamps plus loads of great sentiments included.

For my first card, I used the coloring stencils and I love the graphic look on the finished card. The sentiment is included in the kit.

Using Altenew's Craft Your Life Watercolor Flowers coloring stencil.

I used Altenew Crisp Dye Inks in the following shades: Mango Smoothie, Warm Sunshine, Orange Crush, Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon and Mountain Pine when coloring with the stencil.

For my background, I used washi tape to tape off a border. Then, using Altenew’s Large Ink Blending Tool and Warm Sunshine Crisp Dye Ink, I blended a coordinating background. I die cut my floral panel, attached to the background with Instant Dimension Foam Tape and added Warm and Cozy Enamel Dots to the flower centers.

Yellow and aqua color scheme on Altenew's December 2022 Craft-Your-Life Project kit.

Altenew Beach Garden Set K Artist Alcohol Markers

Altenew just came out with their newest set of Alcohol Markers called Beach Garden (Set K) and I wanted to do a second card with this bright set. I love the aquas, blues, yellows and oranges. There are also some really pretty grays included. The only additional color I used on my card was a light Yellow (C004) for the buds on the right side. In addition to the regular brush, Altenew markers have a second fine coloring head for small areas. I used the fine nib a lot on this card and it is one of the reasons I usually reach for Altenew markers over other brands.

Altenew's Beach Garden (Set K) Artist Alcohol Markers.

I added a subtle background by running a bit of Embossing Paste through parts of the Bubble Wrap Stencil. I lightly heated the embossing paste. The longer you heat, the more the paste will bubble up. I assembled with Instant Dimension Foam Tape, stamped a sentiment using Altenew’s Label Love Stamp set and added Cool Summer Night Enamel Dots to the flower centers.

Watercolor Flowers Embossing Folder

Using 3D embossed scraps in cardmaking.

The Craft-Your-Life Embossing Folder is beautiful! I ink blended Persian Blue and Saphire Crisp Dye Inks on cardstock and then embossed it. I then added white pigment over the top of the embossing. I wanted to spotlight the embossing so I die cut 4 circular frames using Halftone Circles dies and then glued them together to form a substantial looking frame. Using one of the die cuts as a guide, I chose the portion of the embossed panel that I wanted to use on my card and then die cut a circle. I stacked the frames on top of the embossed circle and glued to a white A2 top-folding card. I added three enamel dots (Essential Black and White) to the flower centers and stamped a simple sentiment in corresponding ink. I think it makes for a fresh clean look.

Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear which card is your favorite.

Altenew November 2022 Simply Scientific Stamps/Dies/Stencils Release + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

A bright cheerful card using Altenew's Radial Circles Cover Die.

Altenew’s Radial Circles Cover Die

Hello and welcome to Altenew’s Simply Scientific Release and Blog Hop! There is lots of wonderfulness in this collection. I was instantly attracted to the Radial Circles Cover Die and I used it on three of my cards today.

I started by making a background using the “Direct To Paper” method. I used 8 colors of Altenew Crisp Dye Inks in blues, greens and aquas and I just swipped the ink cube over my cardstock. I wanted the edges darker than the middle but that was the extent of my plan. Don’t worry about blending, it will look great under the die cut panel. I love the bold vivid color from this technique.

Direct to Paper Background panel.

For the cover die, I used a metal shim for precise die cutting.

I thought a wreath would look pretty around the sentiment and I colored the leaves with my Altenew watercolor brush markers for a bright cheerful card.

If you want a quick and easy card with loads of impact, you can quickly make a background with the Direct to Paper technique described above and then just pop on a die cut cover panel and stamp a sentiment.

A quick and easy bold handmade card in blues, aquas and greens.

Altenew’s Chemistry Vases Stamp, Die and Coloring Stencil

For my next card, I used bright bold primary colors for a “school vibe”. My daughter is a scientist at a university and I made this card for her.

I started by making a background with strips cut from gel press prints. The background was easy to make and came together very quickly.

I used the Chemistry Vases stamp, coloring stencil and die for my beaker. I used Altenew Crisp Dye Inks in the following colors: Soft Lilac for the shadow, Coral Berry, Puffy Heart, Moon Rock for the beaker outline and Jet Black for the markings.

I love the adorably punny sentiments included in this set!

For my last card, I combined Altenew’s Chemistry Vases Bundle with the Radial Circles Cover die. I have a friend who runs a medical laboratory and I thought this card would be perfect for her birthday. I used a taupe A2 card base, added a floral embellishment from the Bitty Bits Ephemera Kit and topped it with a pink enamel dot.

I think this Chemistry Vases set is perfect for students, teachers, scientists, professors, and medical professionals.

Altenew August 2022 Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Altenew Craft-A-Flower Open Peony die kit handmade card
Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Open Peony Card

Hello and welcome! Every month, I look forward to Altenew’s Craft-A-Flower Subscription Release and this Open Peony may be my new favorite! This card is beautiful but it actually came together very quickly. My inspiration was a photograph of a Coral Charm Peony.

Ink Blending on Floral Die Cuts

Ink Blending on Colored Cardstock Die Cuts to Add Shading: Altenew Open Peony

I started by die cutting the floral elements from pale pink cardstock and then I ink blended Altenew’s Crisp Dye Inks on each piece. I concentrated the color around the edges. For layers #1 and #2, I used Coral Berry. Layer #3 was Coral Berry + Orange Cream. With layer #1, I added just a bit of ink and I used a heavier hand as I progressed to the top layers. Layer #4 (around the flower center) was Cotton Candy and Layer # 5 (top layer) was Crimson. I ink blended the last overlay that would go around the edges, but decided I liked the Peony without them.

For the leaves, I started with a medium green cardstock and then ink blended Mountain Pine Crisp Dye Ink around the edges. For the flower center I started with yellow cardstock and then added Warm Sunshine and Espresso ink blending.

Pink Die Cut Flower with Ink Blending: Altenew Open Peony Subscription Kit

The Peony is so beautiful that I kept the background simple. The sentiment is from Paint-A-Flower Clematis and I added three New Day Enamel Dots.

Altenew August 2022 Bold & Beautiful Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in Total Prizes!)

Altenew Precious Doodles Handmade Card.

Hello and welcome to Altenew’s August Blog Hop! I am so excited about the beautiful and fresh products that Altenew is releasing this month.

Altenew Precious Doodles Stamp and Die Bundle

I thought I would start with the Precious Doodles Bundle. When “doodles” is in the title, I know it is going to be a favorite of mine!

Precious Doodles is a happy little stamp layering set and I used Altenew Crisp Dye Inks: Cotton Candy + Coral Berry, Ocean Waves + Dusk, Parrot + Shadow Creek and Firefly + Green Fields. Once my Doodles were stamped, I embellished with Enamel Dots, die cut a frame, added the darling bee and die cut the sentiment.

The Arch of Flowers Bundle is such a fun and creative kit! For my first card, I used the stamp, coloring stencil and die. The die is gorgeous and very detailed which really adds to its beauty! The coloring stencil was very easy to line up and use and I love the effect. The stamp set also has great sentiments included, which is always a big plus! To finish the card I just added enamel dots to the flower centers.

Altenew July 2022 Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Altenew July 2022 Craft Your Life Always Sunshine Project Kit homemade card.
Altenew July 2022 Craft Your Life:
Always Sunshine Project Kit

Altenew just released their July Subscription Kits and they are wonderful! For this blog post, I created two projects using the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Always Sunshine and Craft A Flower: Garden Rose.

To celebrate the July Subscription Kits, Altenew is hosting a Blog Hop with loads of prizes and fresh inspriation so come hop with us! You probably came from Emily Midgett and her gorgeous cards.

Craft Your Life: Always Sunshine Kit

If you want to make a showy “Wow” project, you’ll want to try the July Craft Your Life kit. The flowers, leaves and vines are gorgeous! The Craft Your Life Project Kit comes with a 6 x 8 Stamp set and its coordinating Die Set, Stencil, and Embossing Folder. You will want to buy the kit becuase the items included in this kit are not sold separately.

I started by diecutting a template for my stamp. The main stamp is large and to ensure I had it positioned correctely, so it would die cut well, I set the stamp inside the template in my Misti. This little extra step makes for a much better finished project. Next, I stamped the outline with pigment ink and let it dry. I then used the coloring stencils to ink blend the flowers and leaves. I wanted a bit of fresh white so I didn’t use every stencil layer. I just love the look of coloring with stencils. To finish, I used the layering stamps to add detail and then die cut. This is a big stamp, so using foam tape, I attached the die cut to a 5″ x 6 1/2″ panel. The stamp is so beautiful that I kept the rest of the card clean and simple.

How to make a stamp template for die cutting large images.

Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Rose Garden

Altenew Craft-A-Flower Garden Roses die cut flower kit + handmade card
Altenew July 2022 Craft-A-Flower: Garden Roses

Altenew’s Craft-A-Flower kits are favorites that I use frequently. This month kit has roses, which are a classic. And, I LOVE the leaves in this month’s kit! I know I will be pulling the leaf dies out to use with future die kits.

I die cut my roses from pinks from two of Altenew’s designer paper packs and the background is from a just released 3D Embossing Folder. The “keyholes” make lining up the die-cut layers so easy!

Altenew July 2022 Summer Sunshine Collection Release Blog Hop + Giveaway ($300 in total prizes)

Altenew Summer Wishes Stamps, Dies and Stencils + Handmade Card

Hello friend! I am excited to show you some of Altenew’s new products in their wonderful July release. To kick off the release, Altenew is hosting a fun Blog Hop and we hope you will visit each stop.

Altenew’s Summer Wishes Stamps, Dies and Stencils

I’d like to start with the Summer Wishes Bundle which is oh, so fun! For my first card, I created a cozy little beach scene comprised of an adirondack chair, umbrella, radio and flip flops.

I started by ink blending my background with Altenew’s Large Blending Tool + Ocean Waves Crisp Dye Ink. Next, I stamped the elements with black pigment ink and let them dry. I colored the images with the coordinating stencil. I really like the effect of ink blending through stencils and it is so easy to do! To set the stage, I cut a frame using the Rounded Rectangles Die Set. I then die cut each element and assembled my card with foam tape.

I made a companion card with the rest of the Summer Wishes shells. The background was again ink blended with Ocean Waves Dye Ink from the Cool Summer Nights Mini Ink Set.

Additional Products Used:

Clean and Simple Beach Themed Card.

Altenew Linear Life Tropical Garden

I love the modern look of these loose sketchy outline flower stamps and I know this set will become a favorite that I use over and over again. It is very versatile and would work great on clean and simple projects but I also plan to use it on some mixed media cards.

Altenew Mod Fruit Bowl Stamps and Dies

I LOVE citrus, so I couldn’t wait to get this set! I have three Meyer Lemon Trees that are like little babies to me and they were the inspiration for this project.

I wanted a bright happy card so I went with rainbow colors. I started by cutting cardstock into identically sized pieces so I could set up an assembly line for stamping the citrus elements. I stamped the segmented portion on the left side of my Misti and then I moved the panel to the right side and added the rind. With this assembly line, I had all the colors stamped very quickly. All I needed to do was wipe off the ink in between colors. My Mini Blossom Die Cutter made die-cutting a snap. I find it so handy to use on my desk for die cutting smaller elements. I attached the die-cuts (spaced 2″ apart) to a 6 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ panel and added my sentiment.
