Spellbinders September 2022 Card Club Kits

Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Thankful Tractor handmade card.
Thankful Tractor Card

Hello friends! It’s reveal day for Spellbinders September Club Kits and I am excited to share four cards with you. My projects feature the Large Die of the Month, Small Die of the Month and Embossing Folder of the Month and as you can see, the new kits are so fun!

Spellbinders September 2022 Large Die of the Month Club Kit: Thankful Tractor

Its harvest time and I love the veggies and adorable tractor included with this month’s Large Die of the Month kit called Thankful Tractor! The kit is large so I made a substantial 5 x 7″ card. I used bright bold green, yellow and orange cardstock for my focal elements. To set the stage I embossed my background with the September Embossing Folder of the Month. Next, I tore a piece of kraft cardstock and then lightly ink blended my “dirt”. I assembled my project with glue and foam tape. I found using a sticky mat helped with the die cut assembly.

Spellbinders September Embossing Folder of the Month: Scattered Fall

I love the vegetables so much that I made a second card. I again embossed the background with the September Embossing Folder of the Month. The basket was die cut from Frosted Silver Mirror Cardstock using last month’s Large Die Kit of the Month called “Strawberry Patch”.

I added a sentiment (retired) and flowers from the kit that were embellished with Crystal Mix Gems (SCS-128) and then used a Spellbinders A2 Top Fold Card Base.

Spellbinders Small Die of the Month: Stitched Fall Leaves

This month’s Small Die of the Month has loads of beautiful stitched leaves with coordinating shadows plus two word sentiments (hello fall). For my first card, I wanted to showcase the elegant simplicity of just one leaf. The stitching went very quickly and I kept the rest of the card clean and simple.

I used the included hello sentiment die. This is a beautiful yet delicate die and I’ve found it works well if you attach a sheet of double sided adhesive paper to the cardstock prior to die cutting. After you die cut, just pull away the backing paper and apply!

Wouldn’t it be fun to make a series of these as a gift?

The leaf dies in the September Small Die of the Month kit are so fun that I wanted to make a card without stitching. To keep the theme, I mounted the leaf and shadow on a panel die-cut with one of my favorites, Essential Rectangles Dies. I love how this keeps the unstitched card theme. The gold details are achieved using Brushed Gold Cardstock and I mounted the panel with foam tape on an A2 Top Fold Cardbase. I find the result is a fresh clean card.

I think the September kits are sure to be favorites…what do you think?

Spellbinders | Embossing Folder of The Month | August 2022 | Intertwined Lattice

Spellbinders August Embossing Folder of The Month Kit + Baby Card.
Intertwined Lattice 3D Embossing Folder

Blue Card for a Baby Shower

I LOVE the Spellbinders August Embossing Folder of the Month! It is called Intertwined Lattice, is very versatile and will work with so many designs. For my baby card, I “debossed” my panel which means the design is pressed below the paper’s surface. I then paired my debossed panel with one of my new favorites: Balloon Party Animal (S3-450). The blue print background is from Spellbinders Cheerful Occasions Paper Pad and I used Craft Foam under the top panel for dimension.

I think this is an adorable baby card.

Hello You Strawberry Card

For my second card, I used the “embossed” side of the panel. Embossing means the design is raised above the panel. The August embossing folder is beautiful embossed (below) and debossed (card #1 above)

Spellbinders August 2022 Card Kits: Embossing Folder of the Month, Strawberry Patch Large Die of the Month and Outlined Sentiments Small Die of the Month.

I love the texture that the embossing adds to cards. For this card I used three of Spellbinders August 2022 Subscription Kits: Large Die of the Month called Strawberry Patch, Small Die of the Month and Embossing Folder of the Month. The sentiment was die-cut from Brushed Gold Cardstock using Outlined Sentiments dies and I love the bit of glow it adds to the card.

Spellbinders Small Die of the Month | August 2022 | Outlined Sentiments

Spellbinders August 2022 Small Die of the Month - Outlined Sentiments - die cut sentiment card.

Outlined Sentiments

I am always looking for new fresh interesting sentiments so I was so excited to see this month’s Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Kit called Outlined Sentiments. Besides the “for” and “you” I used above, the kit includes Cheers (see card below), Thanks, Congrats and Hello (see card below) plus coordinating shadow dies that line up perfectly! There is also a cute flower, greenery and leaves in the kit.

Handmade card with striped background in pink, white, aqua, blue and tan kraft paper cardstock.
For You Handmade Card

The die cuts are beautifully delicate so I used an extra metal shim when die-cutting the sentiments and they cut great. Before die cutting, I attached adhessive sheets to the cardstock and this made sentiment placement so easy!

Handmade card with background made of strips of colored cardstock.

For my background, I used my paper trimmer to cut strips of paper in varying widths. I didn’t measure, I just eyeballed it. I started with Waterfall, Pink Sand, Watermelon Fusion (retired), white and Cosmic Sky. It didn’t look quite right so I added Kraft cardstock and then I was happy with my color scheme. I think it is bright and cheerful with a bit of a beach vibe. I trimmed my background down to 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ and mounted on an A2 base with kraft foam.

I die cut my sentiments and shadows, added three strawberry blossoms from the August Large Die of the Month Kit, placed enamel dots on the flower centers and then adhered to the background with foam tape.

I am happy with this cheery little card.

Hello You Card

For my second card, I die cut my two sentiments, Outlined Sentiments, from Brush Gold cardstock and I love the simple elegance it adds.

Cheers Card with Die Cut Strawberries

My last card is a bit more clean and simple, but I love the effect of the delicate die cut sentiment.

Spellbinders "Cheers" Outlined die cut Sentiment: August 2022 Small Die of the Month Strawberry Card.

With Taylored Expressions Square Window Masking Stencil, I ink blended Grass Fields, Warm Sunshine and Peacock Feathers for my background. Using the August 2022 Large Die of the Month kit, I selected and die cut cardstock scraps so that each of the three berries would be a different shade of red. I die cut the Cheers sentiment (Spellbinder’s August 2022 Small Die of the Month Kit) from metallic black cardstock. I first adhered adhessive paper to the back of the cardstock and then die cut the sentiment which made placement so easy.

Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Kit | August 2022 | Strawberry Patch

Spellbinders August 2022 Large Die of the Month Strawberry Patch Kit handmade card.

Die Cut Strawberry Themed Cards

The Spellbinders August 2022 Large Die of the Month Strawberry Patch kit is just perfect for summer! I made three cards and I can’t decide which I like best. The first one I made for my daughter and her husband to go with a housewarming gift. Doesn’t the strawberry plant look like it’s dancing? I think it is so lively and cheerful!

The dies are big and beautiful so my first card is 4 1/4″ x 6 1/2″. I wanted variations in my reds and greens so I dove into my paper scrap stash and pulled out some pretty cardstock leftovers. The basket is die cut from Brush Gold Cardstock.

Don’t you just love the pretty little strawberry blossoms? I know I will be using these on future cards because they are so fresh and happy.

Strawberry Trio Card

The die cut strawberries are so animated and joyful that I thought it would be fun to spotlight three berries with blooms on card #2. Once again, I die cut the strawberries with Spellbinders August 2022 Large Die of the Month Kit called Strawberry Patch. I used Taylored Expressions Square Window Masking Stencil and then blended Grass Fields, Warm Sunshine and Peacock Feathers for my background. I again used cardstock scraps so that each of the three berries would be a different shade of red.

The “Cheers” sentiment is from Spellbinders August Small Die of the Month kit, which is filled with great delicate sentiment dies and coordinating sentiment shadows. Before die cutting, I attached adhessive sheets to the cardstock which made sentiment placement so easy!

For my final card, I combined three August 2022 Spellbinders Kits: Large Die of the Month (Strawberry Patch), Small Die of the Month (sentiments) and Embossing Folder of the Month. I think they all work so well together.

I die cut the two sentiments from Brush Gold Cardstock. Prior to die-cutting, I attached adhessive sheets to the cardstock and this made sentiment placement so easy! I also matted the embossed panel with red patterned paper.

Spellbinders Stitchmas Christmas

Spellbinders "Stitchmas Christmas" Stitched Ornament card.

Spellbinders Stitched Ornament Die (S4-1231)

Welcome back friends! I am excited to share a gorgeous stitched ornament die that Spellbinders just released as part of their Stitchmas Christmas line. I made an elegant Christmas Ornament Card in gold and spruce green. The stitching was easy and I spent a relaxing hour or so adding the gold thread details.

Elegant die cut and stitched Christmas Card in Green and Gold.

I started by cutting the ornament from Blue Spruce cardstock. Then I cut the ornament background, greenery and accents from Brush Gold Cardstock. Using Gold Floss, I stitched the embroidered details and then assembled my ornament. The background is a mat of Brush Gold Cardstock and a designer paper from the Cheerful Occasions pad. I love the variety and beauty of this pack!

Spellbinders Winter Garden Collection

Spellbinders Letterbox Die Kit (S4-1209) handmade card.

Letterbox Die Kit (S4-1209)

Christmas in July? For all of you ready to start working on your holiday cards, Spellbinders has some fresh new die sets that are part of their gorgeous new Winter Garden Collection by Susan Tierney-Cockburn. The Letter Box is so versatile….you can use the mailbox by itself….add Christamas gifts or letters….or turn it into a birthday card by changing the colors and sentiment. I added fun little details from two other Spellbinders kits.

To start this card, I ink blended the blue panel on 80 lb. card stock, which I think embosses more crisply. I then embossed the background for added interest. I die cut all my pieces, “aged” the white post with a distress crayon and added a few white accents to the mail box with a gel pen. I then assembled my card with glue and foam tape.

Sweet Card for a Baby Shower

Layering your card backgrounds + Spelllbinders Origami Folds 3D Embossing Folder

Layering Card Backgrounds to Add Focus

Last week I made a couple of cards using Spellbinders new Birthday Collection. My balloon animal was so cute, that I knew I wanted to use the die kit to make a card for a baby shower that I was attending. For this card, I went with a layered background to showcase my die cut focal element. I knew I wanted to add texture too so I used Spellbinder’s beautiful new 3D Embossing Folder: Origami Folds.

Spellbinders + Cathe Holden’s Flea Market Finds

Quick and Easy Vintage Card featuring Cathe Holden's Flea Market Finds Ephemera, printed die cuts and stamps.

Cathe Holden’s “Flea Market Finds” Ephemera

Hello! I am so excited to show you Spellbinders new product line from Cathe Holden called Flea Market Finds. Cathe is a well known fabric designer and collector of vintage miscellany and she just released a wonderful assortment of printed die-cuts, paper samplers, stamps and stencils in collaboration with Spellbinders. Cathe put so much thought into every product and they all work SO well together.

For the past week, I have been playing in my craft room and I’d like to show you what I created. Hold on, becuase I have seven cards to share with you today. The card above was so fun to make!

My Recipe For Card 1:

On this card, I used all the products “as is” with no distressing. I started with the background where I layered 2 different papers, one from the neutral palette and one from the Blue Green pack. Next, I started adding stickers and diecuts. The bird image is framed with a third paper from Cathe’s Neutral Sampler.

Vintage Shabby Chic Card

Vintage Shabby Chic Handmade Get Well Card

For my Shabby Chic card, I started by ink blending Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on my panel. I added Frayed Burlap Ink around the ages for a vintage feel. I let the panel dry and then added Grit Paste through stencil #1 of the Layered Vintage Floral Stencil. I really like how the background turned out. I wanted an even more vintage look so I ran my Tea Dye Distress Crayon around the edges of the background and die cut and then blended the pigment with my fingers. The card base was covered with paper from the Blue Green Paper Palette.

Cardmaking With Ephemera

Vintage Collage Style Card using Spellbinders Flea Market Finds die cuts, stamps and stickers.
Aren’t the little bakers just the cutest?

My third card is a collage style card pieced together with designer paper, printed die-cuts and stamps. I used 1.25″ squares of paper cut from the Neutrals and Blue Green Samplers for my background. I distressed my background panel and the die cuts with a Distress Crayon and then added lots of ephemera.

Grunged Up Vintage Look Card

Grunged up Mixed Media Card using Spellbinders Flea Market Finds Stamps and Stickers.

I started my grunged up card by making a background panel. I blended tumbled glass distress ink and then added a bit of frayed burlap. I then ink blended a second panel for my die cut circles. I used Antique Linen Distress Ink and then added a bit of frayed burlap. I let the panels dry and then added Distress Grit Paste through my bricked stencil. I wanted it to look rough and old so I didn’t cover the entire stencil. After the grit paste was dry, I rubbed a Distress Crayon around the edges and blended it out onto the panel with my finger. I also gently rubbed some on the top of the panel so you could really see the crackle finish. Next, I die cut my circles and rubbed distress crayon around the edges and then blended onto the top with my fingers. I added two stickers to two of the circles and then stamped over them. The middle circle is just the roughly stamped cute flower truck. The matting is from the blue green sampler.

Quick and Easy Vintage Look Card

Quick and Easy Vintage Look Handmade Card using Flea Market Finds Printed Die Cuts.

This was the fastest and easiest card to make. I started with a page from the Neutral Sampler for my Background. I then layered on 3 Happy Thoughts and 2 Home Arts printed die cuts. I stamped a sentiment onto the flower basket and added a fun little paper clip from my stash.

Stenciled Background on Vintage Look Card

Cathe Holden included a beautiful stencil in her collection and I used it for my background on this card. I added 2 stickers and 1 stamp to complete the card.

Happy Birthday Spellbinders!

Spellbinders Stitched Fringe Cake (S3-452) + Cheerful Occasions Paper Pad (SCS-191) handmade card

Happy 20th Birthday Spellbinders! I just love Spellbinders wonderful papercrafting products so I wanted to create a few projects using their new Birthday Collection to help them celebrate.

Spellbinders Stitched Fringe Cake

I started with the Stitched Fringe Cake die set, which I think makes such a festive confection! For both backgrounds, I used Spellbinders new 6×6″ paper pad (Cheerful Occcasions Paper Pad), which is full of beautiful designs! I added a bit of gold stitching to the cake to finish off the look.

Spellbinders Balloon Party Animal

For my second card, I used light ink blending on my white die cuts to simulate the look of balloons. I think the balloon animal would also be adorable for a baby shower.

  • Balloon Party Animal Die Kit
  • Cheerful Occasions Paper Pad (I used 3 pages for the background)
  • Ornamental Labels for the white die cut (retired)
  • Sugar Coated Sentiments (retired)
  • Tumbled Glass Distress Ink (for ink blending the balloon animal)
  • Blue Glaze Gel Pen for the accents

Spellbinders Die Cut Dogwood Blossom Card

Spellbinders Susan's Garden Favorites Dogwood Card.

I just love bright happy colors and I think they pair so well with Spring cards. Today I am sharing two Dogwood themed cards from Spellbinders new collection called Susan’s Garden Favorites.

DIY Glitter Paper Background

My Process:

  • I started by making pale pink and green Gel Press prints for my flowers and leaves. The branch is cut from a copper gel print because I thought brown was too plain.
  • I also wanted a bright fun background so I made my own glitter paper. First, I taped some watercolor paper to a hard board and brushed water over the surface. Then I mixed Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks with Shimmer Spray (no water was added) and I painted it on the watercolor paper. I wanted an intense color so I applied three layers but I didn’t bother to let it dry in between. The background is so pretty in person but its hard to see the sparkle in the photos so I added a quick video below.
  • I die cut the blooms/leaves and then, using a bone folder, I molded and shaped them.
  • The flower center is an enamel dot.
  • I wanted to anchor the background so I die cut a frame using Spellbinders Essential Rectangles from 80 lb. cardstock.
  • I assembled the card with liquid glue (frame) and foam tape for the leaves, blooms and sentiment.
Quick Video to Show the DIY Glitter Paper
Die Cut Dogwood Blossom Card with DIY handmade glitter paper background.

I changed the position of the branch on the second card and also let the background peek around the edges of the frame.

Die Cut Floral Card + Gel Press Prints

The shimmer is so much prettier in person. I think when I post to Instagram I will do a little reel so you can see the sparkle better.
