Altenew Academy: Color Your Day

I just finished this card for Altenew Academy\’s Color Your Day and I wanted to share it.  This is the second class I\’ve taken with Therese Calvird, and she is an excellent instructor!  She is creative, calm and explains her lessons well.

Today\’s card was inspired by Lesson #1. Therese showed us some loose watercoloring and I loved the color blue she used (Tombow #493).  She also suggested that we leave a little white around the edges and I really like that look.
My process:  I stamped my blooms and leaves on watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx black ink.  I then partially colored the images and then used a wet brush to move the color around.  I was sure to leave a bit of white around the edges.  Therese also suggested using just a hint of neutral for the flowers center, which is really pretty. Normally I would color the centers yellow.  I added some clear glossy accents to the flower centers.
Supplies:
Altenew Smile More stamp and die bundle
Versafine Onyx Black Ink
Watercolor Paper
Tombow Markers:  493, 443, N45, 173, 133
Nuvo Crystal Glaze
Spellbinders Essential Rectangles for the frame
Foam tape for the three blooms and sentiment
Liquid glue for the other elements.

WWC264 – Helen\’s Challenge: All About Occasions

Hello and Welcome.  Today we are showcasing \”Occasion\” cards at The Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Helen is our hostess.  I wanted to make a birthday card for my daughter. Megan\’s beloved \”Tank\” is her baby so I went with a dog themed card.
I was at a card making convention and I saw a stamp that looked just like Tank so I put together a little birthday scene and  I colored the dog to look like Tank.  Since it is for my daughter, I wanted to make it special so I included a \”pop-up\” dog inside.

I Copic colored all the stamped images, added gel pen accents and used Nuvo Crystal glaze on the cake frosting and balloons.  I fussy cut most of the images but did die cut the pop up.  The tone on tone details didn\’t photograph well, but the background was made using an embossing folder.

Supplies:
Stamps of Life:  Friends 4 Cookie stamp
Janes Doodles:  Party Time stamps (cake and gifts)
Mama Elephant:  Playful Pups (pop-up)
Sunny Studio Quilted Hearts Embossing Folder (background)
SSS Birthday Word Mix 1 sentiment

WWC231 – Tristan\’s "All About Occasions" Challenge

Hello and welcome!  This week it is all about occasion cards at the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge Website and Tristan is our hostess.
CAS card with off the edge die-cutting using Lawn Fawn\'s Get Well Soon stamp and die set.
I go through a lot of Get Well cards and it was time to add some new cards to my inventory.  Lawn Fawn\’s Get Well Soon stamp set has been a longtime favorite and I thought it would be cute as a CAS card with some off the edge die-cutting.    I started with an A2 panel, did the off the edge die-cutting, then stamped and colored the images in with Copic markers.  Next, I added Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the prescription bottle tops to make them shine.

I am entering this card in:

Lawn Fawnatics \”Little Things\” Challenge
I love the small little images in the Get Well Soon set. It is one of my most used stamp and die sets because it makes the cutest cards.

WWC215 – Donna\’s Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Hello and welcome to Watercooler Wednesday\’s Feminine \”Anything Goes\” Challenge.  Donna is our hostess this week.
Feminine cards are so fun to create and I really enjoyed making this one.  My daughter is a scientist with the Environmental Protection Agency and I wanted to make a special card for her.
Test tubes embellished with Tonic Nuvo Crystal Glaze.

I started by stamping the image and sentiment from Stamping Bella\’s \”Sage the Scientist\” onto XPress It paper.  I then selected fun bright Copic colors and colored away.  I wanted the test tubes to stand out so I added a coating of Nuvo Crystal Glaze to each of them.  I used MFT\’s Die-namics stitched die and then popped it on a bright green note card.

Head over to the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge website for all the details.

I am entering this card in Simon Says Stamp Animal AnticsChallenge.  Aren\’t those little lab assistants adorable?

Happy Birthday "Cheers" Card

I have a friend whose birthday is in December and she has a party every year with the subtitle \”Midweek Merrymaking\”.  She loves to try new cocktails so I thought she would like this CAS card.  I am looking forward to giving it to her next month.
V04, B00 & YG01

I stamped three beverages from \”Raise a Glass\” by Clearly Besotted, then colored with Copic markers.  I really like the color combination of V04, B00 and YG01.    I fussy cut the images,  added a bit of gloss using Nuvo Tonic Clear Glaze and put them away to dry.  I then took an A2 card and scored two lines above and below where I wanted to attach the cut-outs.  I thought this would frame my focal point.  Next, I heat embossed a sentiment and adhered all 4 pieces with 3D foam squares.  Last, I stamped Happy Birthday inside the card.

I should do this more often, but I took a picture of the supplies I used

Handmade Get Well Card

Its time to replenish my stash of homemade get well cards.

I started by making a background with a stencil and Distress Ink and then stamped the Feel Better sentiment.  Next, I stamped and colored four images from Lawn Fawn\’s Get Well Soon set.  I fussy cut the images, topped the red lids with Nuvo Crystal Glaze for some shine and used foam squares to adhere them to the card base.

My color inspiration came from the current Color Throw Down #509 challenge, which uses vibrant red, orange and blue.

Update:  I was pleased to see this card featured on the Color Throwdown site!

I think the result is a cheery little card.

Birthday Bird in Red, White and Blue

I wanted to do a birthday card featuring this cute whimsical bird and decided a bold background would be fun.  Since it is The 4th of July, I used Red, White and Blue as my color inspiration.  I started by stamping the Hero Arts Tribal Stripes Bold Print Background Stamp with Ranger Denim ink.  Next I stamped the bird from one of my favorite stamp sets,  Simon Says Stamp Stacking Animals.

Simon Says Stamp Stacking Animals.

I used the same denim ink for the bird and sentiment to tie the card together.  I colored the bird with Copic markers and then added Tonic Nuvo Glaze to the birds beak. I trimmed the smaller panel down and mounted (with foam tape) on the blue background,.  I then mounted the background on a white card and stamped a birthday sentiment inside the card.

Wild Whimsical Encouraging Animals

Who doesn\’t want to receive an encouraging card?  My daughter opened her own marketing firm a year ago and I wanted to send her a card for her first anniversary.  Giraffes are her favorite animal so I went with Simon Says Stamp\’s Stacking Animals.  I am entering this card in the  Time Out Challenge #108 WILD

Pattern Stamped handmade card using Simon Says Stamp Stacking Animals. Giraffe, elephant, turtle and bird.

I think pattern stamping is fun and festive so I went with that technique.  I colored the animals with Copic markers and then added Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the hearts and beaks to make them pop.
