Fun Masculine Birthday Card

A humorous masculine card featuring Photoplay Fetch and Simon Says Stamp Stacking Animals.

This card is for my future son-in-law. Masculine cards can be difficult and my go-to for men is fun and whimsical. I achieved that by using two old favorites: Photoplay Fetch combined with Simon Says Stamp Stacking Animals. I love that bird!

My Process:

  • I started by stamping the silly dog and bird, then colored them with Copics and lastly die cut them.
  • The background is both fun and vibrant. I ink blended distress ink onto watercolor paper and then I “bleached” circles for a bokeh look. For the bleaching, I took a circle stamp, painted water on with a paint brush and then stamped the circle onto my background.
  • I then made a frame using Altenew’s Rounded Rectangle Dies and stamped my sentiment.
  • I assembled using lots of foam tape.

Humorous Get Well Card

I needed to restock my Get Well cards and I think humor can be fun as long as the condition is not too serious.
This dog and the bird always make me smile and I thought it would be cute to have the bird, big eyes and all, hang upside down.  The background is hand inked.

Supplies:
Fetch (the dog) by Photoplay
SSS Stacking Animals
Papertrey Sentiment
Distress Ink (Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron)
S XPress It Paper
Copic Markers

Humorous Dog Card

Hello there!  I was at a cardmaking convention in February and saw this humorous dog and die set (Photo Play – Fetch) and knew I could make some really fun cards.  Don\’t you love how the dog almost makes a perfect square?
Photoplay Fetch stamp and die set.
I started by stamping Fetch and the small bird (SSS Stacking Animals), coloring with Copics and die-cutting.  I knew I wanted to frame the little vignette so I die-cut a large frame.   I had previously  made the background (Tim Holtz Bricked Layering Stencil) in a bright vivid blue.  Next I stamped the Hello sentiment (Altenew Pinstripes Background Stamp Set) on the frame.  I wanted to emphasize the frame so I used foam tape to adhere the frame and animal die-cuts to the bricked background.  I think this is a cheery little card that will be fun to send to a friend.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
