WWC276 – Marsha\’s Challenge: Anything Goes with a Masculine Twist

Hello and welcome.  Today we are making masculine cards at The Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Marsha is our hostess.  I like the look of grunge/mixed media cards but I\’ve never made one myself.  I decided to give it a try with this dragonfly.
My Process:
  • I started by inking my glass media mat with various shades distress ink.  I sprayed with water and then laid a sheet of watercolor paper on the ink/water.  I dried with a heat tool and repeated this process a couple of times.
  • After the panel was dry I stenciled and stamped random elements on the panel
  • I then heat embossed the dragonfly and sentiment.
Supply List:
Visible Images \”Live In the Moment\” dragonfly stamp
Visible Images circle stamps
SSS Sketchy Lines background stamp
Tim Holtz Brick Layering Stencil
Ancient rubber stamp numbers
Stamps of Life sentiment
Nuvo Hot Chocolate Embossing Powder
Various colors of Distress Ink
Watercolor paper

I am playing along with:

This is a fun technique that I want to do again in the future.

I am so pleased that you stopped by!

WWC248 – Kath\’s Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Hello and welcome!  This week at The Watercooler Wednesday Challenge we are designing projects for the men in our lives.  Kath is our hostess.  I created a card for my brother who drives a pickup and is an avid surfer.  I love how this die set has beach accessories to fill the truck bed.

I used Spellbinder\’s Truckin\’ Through the Seasons die and Nuvo Tonic Hot Chocolate Embossing powder for the sentiment (Ranger Letter It). The card stock is Bohemia Blue Bird and Barefoot Beautiful \”All Boy\”.

Can\’t wait to pop this card in the mail to sunny California.

WWC209 – Marsha\’s Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Masculine cards are usually the most difficult for me and I needed one for my brother\’s birthday.  I love dragonflys and thought it would be fun to emboss a series across the page in Nuvo Hot Chocolate Embossing powder.

Last summer I won first place in AAA 4th Birthday CAS Challenge and the prize was a generous gift certificate to Visible Image\’s shop.  I did not have any of their stamps and I picked out 4 sets including this one called Live in the Moment.

I colored the wings with Copic markers (Y17, YG01, YG03). I then made an accent strip using Altenew Espresso Crisp Dye Ink and mounted it on a Kraft card.

I am entering this card in:
The Male Room Anything Goes Challenge  I think the images and colors are very masculine.  And for the optional twist, I did not use any designer paper.  I did hand ink the espresso accent strip.
