WWC254 – Tristan\’s Challenge: All About Occasions

Hello and welcome!  This week it is all about occasion cards at The Watercooler Wednesday challenge website and Tristan is our talented hostess.

I had some lovely left over alcohol ink scraps that I wanted to use on a background.  I trimmed the pieces to a variety of widths and then pieced them together to make a solid background.  Blue, aqua and lime is a favorite color combination of mine.  My original intent was to cover the background with a circle die cut panel and sentiment, but I thought that looked a little plain so I added some interest with Simon Says Stamp\’s wonderful Outline Clustered Leaves die.  I cut the leaves from some Recollections embossed paper.  I like the end result and gave this card to one of my girlfriends.

WWC247 – Marsha\’s "All About Occasions" Challenge

Hello and welcome! It is all about Occasions at The Watercooler Wednesday Challenge Website and Marsha is our hostess.

Several friends have been sick or have had surgery, so I was in need of some Get Well cards.  I thought this one turned out bright and cheery.

I put a light glaze of blue distress ink on watercolor paper for the background.  I then die cut the flowers and leaves from scraps of alcohol ink/Yupo panels. Since it is fall, I went with yellow-orange leaves.

Supplies:

  • Newton\’s Nook Flower Trio
  • Lawn Fawn Sentiment
  • Tumbled Glass Distress Ink
  • Assorted Alcohol Inks
  • Yupo paper
  • Watercolor Paper
  • Connect Glue
  • Foam Adhesive

WWC243 – Heidi\’s Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Alcohol Ink, Yupo paper sunset.

Hello and Welcome! This week we are creating Masculine Cards at the  Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and Heidi is our hostess.

I\’ve been on an alcohol ink/Yupo paper roll and thought I would do a masculine sympathy card.  I love the unpredictability of alcohol inks but I wanted to create a sunset background where the sun was setting over trees and a lake.  I like the end result.  The tree is a die from Simon Says Stamp.  The sentiment is my favorite for sympathy cards:  My Sentiments Exactly – Sympathy.

I am entering my card in:

Tree + Alcohol Ink

Hello there!  I saw that Allsorts was having a Trees and Leaves Challenge and I knew just what I wanted to create.
Alcohol Ink Sympathy Card

First I created an alcohol ink panel on Yupo paper.  I was going for a sunset background and I  really like how the panel turned out.  Next, I used Simon Says Stamps Tree Frame die for the cover.  I stamped my sentiment (My Sentiments Exactly) and was done.

WWC235 – Marsha\’s Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Hello there!  This week it is all about the men in our lives at Watercooler Wednesday.  Marsha is our hostess.

This is the birthday card I made for my husband. I went to a Copic workshop with Laura Griffin and we did alcohol ink designs with Copic re-inkers.  This card is two alcohol ink panels.  The sky is yellow, yellow red and red violet and the lake is three shades of blue.  We used the tilt technique which is to saturate the Yupo paper with blending solution, then add alcohol ink and then tilt the Yupo paper to mix the colors.

We used Impression Obsession Heron and Lake die cuts.  I love blending inks and this card turned out bold, beautiful and vivid.

WWC234 – Dawn\’s "All About Occasions" Challenge

Hello and welcome! This week it is all about occasions at  Watercooler Wednesday and I decided to increase my stock of Sympathy cards.  I find it easier to make them before they are needed.
I die-cut this pretty scripty sentiment from a yupo/alcohol ink sheet and then simply framed it.  I like the clean simple lines.

Supplies:
Yupo paper
Alcohol Inks
SSS With Sympathy die
MFT Stitched Rectangle die (Stax set 2)

WWC221 – Tristan\’s Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Happy Wednesday and thank you for stopping by!  Today is all about masculine cards on the Watercooler Wednesday Website and Tristan is this week\’s hostess.

I\’ve been playing with alcohol inks a lot and made this card for one of my nephews.  I made an alcohol ink panel in bright masculine colors and then set the card aside to dry. I took a piece of white cardstock and negative die cut  MFT\’s dienamics Happy Birthday sentiment.     I saved the die-cuts for a future project. Next, I die cut the panel with a stitched die. I wanted a CAS look but the card seemed a little plain so I die-cut a heart to attach to the card.  I assembled and the card is ready to go.

Die-Cut Alcohol Ink Flowers

Hello there!  I\’ve been playing with alcohol inks and had some scraps I wanted to use to make into a floral card.  I just ordered these fun floral die-cuts (Newton\’s Nook Flower Trio) for this idea.
I started by die cutting the parts to each flower/leaf and then assembled.  I wanted a textured background so I used an embossing folder on a yellow cardstock panel.  I like that there are different sizes of \”dots\” as well as empty spaces.  I also diecut my sentiment from an alcohol ink scrap.  I added the yellow dry embossed panel to a white A2 card and then added the flowers with foam dots for added dimension.  I like this cheery card and it is going to my girlfriend on her birthday.

Ombre with Alcohol Inks

I have been somewhat obsessed with alcohol inks for the last month or so.  I used the \”side to side\” method where I put blending solution on yupo paper and then added three lines of alcohol ink  and tilted side to side until the colors were blended.  Lots of fun and very quick. You want to blend quickly so that the colors flow into one another.

Papertrey Yellow Sunshine Die
Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange, Flamingo

I set the yupo paper aside to dry and then die cut using Papertrey\’s Yellow Sunshine.  I added a quick sentiment and the card was done.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Casology \”Burst\” Challenge – I was going for a sun\”burst\” look with my alcohol inks.
