Hero Arts | Spring Catalog Collection Release + Blog Hop

Bright and colorful Smile Friend sentiment handmade card from Hero Arts.

I am so excited about Hero Arts Spring Catalog release, which goes live TODAY! There is so much wonderfulness that I can’t wait for you to see. To celebrate, Hero Arts is hosting a Blog Hop and Giveaway.

I wanted to start off with two fabulous new sentiment dies that I just love from Smile Friend Stamp and Cut XL. I went crazy die cutting a bunch so I will have them on hand for future cards.

Products Used on Smile Friend Card:

Flower Pattern Cover Die

Rainbow ink blending + Inlaid die cutting using Hero Arts Flower Pattern Cover Die.

I LOVE cover dies so I was excited to create with this Flower Pattern Cover Die, which is perfect for Spring and Summer. I started by ink blending a rainbow panel which I then die cut with the cover plate and then used the inlay technique to create a one layer background. This went more quickly than you would think because the die cuts fit like a good quality puzzle. My placement and gluing took about 20 minutes.

TIP: Keep your die-cuts in the panel until you start gluing so you know the orientation and position on your background.

Products Used on My Flower Pattern Cover Die Card:

Birthday Animals Stamps + Pointed Arches Infinity Dies

Fun and happy Copic colored Alligator Gator Birthday Card using Hero Arts Birthday Animal Stamps + Pointed Arches Infinity Dies.

Isn’t this Alligator the cutest? He is one 7 animal stamps included in the Birthday Animals Bundle. The set also includes 8 birthday/everyday sentiments. I combined the stamps with the Pointed Arches Infinity Dies. Infinity Dies are definitely staples in my craft room and I like the interest the arches add to projects.

Products Used on The Gator Card:

Easy One Layer Sympathy Card

Easy one layer Sympathy Card Using With Sympathy Hero Rub-on Transfers.

I love everything about Rub-on transfers. I love how easy they are to use, the look they add to projects and how fun they are to apply! This Spring, Hero Arts included “Sympathy Transfers” in their release. I did some quick ink blending on my background and then added my Hero Transfers for a quick and easy card.

Hello and welcome!  Karen Brown here and I have a very fun project to share with you today featuring this delightful Vintage Birdcage die. I love color and texture and I used lots of both on this card.

Okay, let’s make some art together!

Handmade card with Hero Arts November Add-Ons: Winter Mail Critters, White Holiday Collage Hero Transfers, Wax Seals.

I also wanted to share a card using some of the fun Add Ons from the November My Monthly Hero Kit. This month has so many goodies and I used 4 of them today.

Handmade Christmas Card featuring a Hero Arts bear and fox each holding a letter with a Rub On Transfer background.

Hero Arts Christmas Card Tutorial:

I started by die cutting two frames and two “tapes” from the Journaling Photo Frame Infinity Dies Set. I then very lightly blended Paradise Core Ink along the edges of the photo background (using the sticky mat in my Stamp Wheel), stamped the bear and fox with my Stamping Tool and Copic colored the images (colors listed below). I also rubbed on a transfer Merry & Bright sentiment.

The background was so easy! I rubbed on the fun Twas the Night Before lettering from the White Holiday Collage Hero Transfers (RT121) with a bone folder and all the writing transfered to the paper perfectly on the first try. The card background is Paradise cardstock.

I wanted a pop of red, so I stamped and die cut a Merry Christmas Wax Seal using Crimson Core Ink. I also put a dab of Hero Wax Gold to add a little depth and shine to the “photo tape”

I assembled my card with foam tape and it is ready to send.

Spellbinders | Its My Party Too Collection: 3 Colorful Rainbow Card Ideas

Spellbinders Hip Hip Hooray clean and simple foil glimmer card. GLP-388

Clean and Simple Foil Glimmer Card

Today I am sharing some sentiment focused hot foil cards and the first one was so quick and easy! I wanted to spotlight the fun sentiment so I added some 1/4″ paper strips to the bottom right corner and then angled my sentiment. Done!

Products Used:

Paper Trimmer available at Amazon:

Spellbinders Glimmering Hooray Hot Foil Plate and Die Set + handmade card | GLP-388

Hot Foil Stamping + Texture + Rainbow Colors

For my second card, I wanted some texture on my background panel and I thought the Tiny Dots Embossing Folder would be perfect. To add fun pops of color, I added a 1″ rainbow accent strip to the bottom of my card. The width of each strip is 1/4″.

Products Used:

Spellbinders Glimmering All About You Hot Foil Plate and Dies Set GLP-389 + handmade card

Hot Foiling + White and Gold Floral Die Cuts

For card #3, I kept the rainbow color theme but I added lots of white and gold floral elements to emphasize the lovely gold foiled sentiment. I started with the star of the card, which is the gorgeous hot foiled sentiment. Next, I ink blended a rainbow panel that I die cut into an oval shape and then embossed with the Tiny Dots embosssing folder. At this point, I thought the card looked too plain so I die cut a bunch of my favorite flowers and added them around the perimeter of the center oval. I also embellished with some colorful enamel dots. I die cut the card base from an A2 top folding card. To keep the top fold, I positioned the top edge of the die just above the fold.

Waffle Flower | Four Festive Birthday Cards

Welcome to the Waffle Flower May Release Blog Hop! I’m happy to be hopping with the folks from Waffle Flower to show you all the fun new stuff awaiting you on the Waffle Flower website! Be sure to check out each stop in today’s blog hop for fun, inspiration, and chances to win some of these new release goodies!

Waffle Flower Layered Party Hat (421360) die cut handmade birthday cards

Today I created four festive birthday cards for Waffle Flowers May 2023 Blog Hop. I hope you’ll “hop” along with us and visit each stop along the way.

Waffle Flower Layered Party Hat Die Set

Waffle Flower Layered Party Hat (421360) handmade card in bright festive colors.

I had so much fun with this Layered Party Hat die set and I cut loads of colorful elements. I posted two cards here but I have lots of leftovers that I plan to make into cards when I get back from my trip with friends.

I started by picking vibrant colored cardstock, then I die cut and started making combinations with the hats. For this post, I really liked using the darker color on the base and then adding a lighter shade on top. And the confetti made the hats even more fun! For my sentiment, I chose the new Print and Script Birthday Sentiment die set that has a fun cursive Happy Birthday and a coordinating shadow.

Die cut birthday hat card in bright colors: red, orange, pink and yellow

For my second card I wanted a rainbow grid look so I cut a 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ base and added 6 hats. I used a new Subsentiments Birthday Die Cut Embellishment for my sentiment. I love how easy it is to finish cards with preprinted sentiments.

Die Cut Grid Birthday Card featuring Waffle Flower Layered Party Hat (421360),

Pro Tip: Instead of adhering the hats with foam tape, I used craft foam. This allowed me to microadjust the hats to get them lined up the way I wanted. Putting liquid glue on the craft foam enabled me to wiggle and move the hats until I was happy with their placement.

Waffle Flower Balloon Background Die and Stencil Trio

Waffle Flower Balloon Background Die and Stencil Trio: 421354 and 421355

If you love ink blending then you will adore these Festive Balloon Background Dies with coordinating stencils.

Color selection is one of my favorite parts about cardmaking so this card was extra fun for me. I chose 14 inks in rainbow colors and then started blending away.

PRO TIP: I found it easiest to lay my inks out in order so that I wouldn’t get confused during the ink blending process. I included a process photo to illustrate.

PRO TIP 2: Remember to turn your background for more even blending.

To compliment this release, Waffle Flower included two wonderful new birthday sentiments. One has a beautiful scripty font and the other is a bold print.

I love both new sentiments so I made a rainbow balloon card with each.

Waffle Flower Print and Script Happy Birthday cards: 421352

Don’t you just love cards that are so versatile? This is the type of card I love to keep on hand….each could be used for a friend, child, man, female.

Spellbinders | Stylish Ovals Collection 4 Ways

Spellbinders Stylish Oval Hello You Floral Dies (S5-565) + Oval Nesting Dies (S5-562) on a handmade card.

Oval Shaped Cards

Shaped dies can really change the look of your cards and projects so I was excited to see Spellbinders new Stylish Ovals Collection. I created the first card for my mom’s upcoming birthday. Red is her signature color so I paired corally reds with aquas and greys for a very eye-catching color palette.

To make my oval cardbase, I used the largest oval die for the base. I took a white A2 top folding card base and put the top edge of the die just above the fold so that the die would cut around the top. I die cut the stem twice and glued together for added heft and stability.

Supplies Used:

Shaped Oval Card with Spellbinders Stylish Ovals Collection

Spellbinders Floral Die Cut Cards

Spellbinders Stylish Oval Hello You Floral Dies (S5-565) + Oval Infinity Punch and Pierce Plate Cover Die handmade card.

I needed a card for a bridal shower so I made a second oval shaped card with die cut flowers. This one is smaller than card 1, it is 5″ x 3 3/4″. I think it makes for a sweet gift encloser.

I used the same products as card one but added a pretty little oval frame from the Infinity Punch and Pierce Plate Cover Die. This die is so beautiful and a has an incredible amount of detail, but it cuts beautifully. I used just the middle section on this card and I used the other 2 sections on card #4 below.

Products Used:

White oval shaped card with die cut red flowers.

Die Cut Rainbow Arch Birthday Card

Colorful Rainbow Arch card with Spellbinders Stylish Oval Nesting Dies (S5-562) handmade card.

In case you haven’t noticed, I LOVE these oval nesting dies. Just for fun, I wanted to make a bright cheerful rainbow card so I selected 8 bright shades of cardstock and then die cut my rainbow elements.

This type of birthday card is so versatile that I love to keep them on hand. I could send this to anyone…man, woman or child.

Products Used:

Spellbinders Infinity Punch and Pierce Plate Cover Die

Spellbinders Stylish Oval Infinity Punch and Pierce Plate Cover Die (S5-566) handmade card.

This cover die is gorgeous in person! I started by making a rainbow gradient background with inks and blending brushes. I then placed the center and exterior components of the cover die over the top and added two floral embellishments that echo the spring colors.

I hope I offered some inspiration for your crafting.

Altenew | Linear Life Tropical Garden

I love the modern look of these loose sketchy outline flower stamps! They are very versatile and would work great on clean and simple projects but I also plan to use it on some mixed media cards.

I started again by ink blending my background. I used the three lightest colors in Altenew’s Glacier Cave Mini Cube Set. I masked off a frame with washi tape and then started in the bottom right with Arctic and then moved darker toward the top left corner. I stamped the flowers and leaves with black pigment ink. Once the outlines were dry, I stamped the flower centers with Caribbean Sky Crisp Dye Ink. I die cut the blooms, assembled with foam tape and then added Glacier Caves Enamel Dots to finish the project.

Altenew | Craft Your Life Watercolor Flowers

Altenew Craft Your Life Watercolor Flowers Project Kit handmade card.

Altenew’s Craft-Your-Life Watercolor Flowers

I love Altenew’s Subscription kits and this month’s Craft Your Life Subscription Kit does not disappoint. It’s called Watercolor Flowers and there are two big beautiful stamps plus loads of great sentiments included.

For my first card, I used the coloring stencils and I love the graphic look on the finished card. The sentiment is included in the kit.

Using Altenew's Craft Your Life Watercolor Flowers coloring stencil.

I used Altenew Crisp Dye Inks in the following shades: Mango Smoothie, Warm Sunshine, Orange Crush, Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon and Mountain Pine when coloring with the stencil.

For my background, I used washi tape to tape off a border. Then, using Altenew’s Large Ink Blending Tool and Warm Sunshine Crisp Dye Ink, I blended a coordinating background. I die cut my floral panel, attached to the background with Instant Dimension Foam Tape and added Warm and Cozy Enamel Dots to the flower centers.

Yellow and aqua color scheme on Altenew's December 2022 Craft-Your-Life Project kit.

Altenew Beach Garden Set K Artist Alcohol Markers

Altenew just came out with their newest set of Alcohol Markers called Beach Garden (Set K) and I wanted to do a second card with this bright set. I love the aquas, blues, yellows and oranges. There are also some really pretty grays included. The only additional color I used on my card was a light Yellow (C004) for the buds on the right side. In addition to the regular brush, Altenew markers have a second fine coloring head for small areas. I used the fine nib a lot on this card and it is one of the reasons I usually reach for Altenew markers over other brands.

Altenew's Beach Garden (Set K) Artist Alcohol Markers.

I added a subtle background by running a bit of Embossing Paste through parts of the Bubble Wrap Stencil. I lightly heated the embossing paste. The longer you heat, the more the paste will bubble up. I assembled with Instant Dimension Foam Tape, stamped a sentiment using Altenew’s Label Love Stamp set and added Cool Summer Night Enamel Dots to the flower centers.

Altenew's Craft-Your-Life Watercolor Flowers in Orange and Aqua.

Watercolor Flowers Embossing Folder

Using 3D embossed scraps in cardmaking.

The Craft-Your-Life Embossing Folder is beautiful! I ink blended Persian Blue and Saphire Crisp Dye Inks on cardstock and then embossed it. I then added white pigment over the top of the embossing. I wanted to spotlight the embossing so I die cut 4 circular frames using Halftone Circles dies and then glued them together to form a substantial looking frame. Using one of the die cuts as a guide, I chose the portion of the embossed panel that I wanted to use on my card and then die cut a circle. I stacked the frames on top of the embossed circle and glued to a white A2 top-folding card. I added three enamel dots (Essential Black and White) to the flower centers and stamped a simple sentiment in corresponding ink. I think it makes for a fresh clean look.

Thanks for stopping by! I’d love to hear which card is your favorite.
