Bridal Shower Card

Hello and thank you for stopping by.  I am going to a bridal shower and did some brainstorming.  I wanted to make a dramatic alcohol ink background and came up with the idea of using a white wedding dress die cut in a stitched circle spotlight.

Alcohol ink background using flamingo, sunset orange and sunshine yellow.

The dress is from the My Monthly Hero April 2017 kit, which is a favorite of mine.

I started by making an alcohol ink background with flamingo, sunset orange and sunshine yellow.  I set the panel aside to dry and went to work die-cutting the wedding dress and stitched circle frame.  After my background panel was dry, I assembled my card and stamped my sentiment.  I am very pleased with my card.

Create A Smile Guest Designer – Spring Citrus

It\’s citrus season here in Texas and that inspired me to make a bright cheery citrus themed card.  I was invited to be a Guest Designer for Create-A-Smile stamps and I used one of my favorite stamp sets, Fruit Salad.  For this card, I chose to use only the citrus stamps.  The theme for their current challenge is \”Stamp a Background\”.

Watercolor stamped background in yellow and lime green.

I started by embossing the three citrus images on Brisol cardstock.  Next, I used my Kuretake Watercolors to paint a watery lemon-yellow base and then dropped in more concentrated lemon yellow.  I wanted a messy watercolor background so the lime green (sap green light) was placed here and there.

I let the panel dry overnight and then I used a stitched die to trim the card down slightly.  I also cut an interior stitched frame out of white cardstock.  I glued the white frame and the watercolor panel to a white A2 card.  I die cut the \”thanks\” sentiment twice, glued them together and placed it at the bottom of the frame.

Rainbow Card \”Yellow Challenge\”  My first time to enter this challenge…mostly yellow with a bit of yellow-green splashed in.

Pile it On Favorite Color Challenge I just love the color yellow because it is so happy and warm.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge It is citrus season in Texas so it is sunny and warm.  🙂

I love how bright and happy this card turned out.

Thanks for stopping by!

Doodle Buds for Spring

I finally purchased a Gemini Junior die cut machine and I am having so much fun!  I am not sure why I waited so long!  Previously, I fussy cut everything.  Doodle Buds by WPlus9 is one of my all time favorite stamp sets so it was in my first “die” order.

Pink & Main Pattern Maker

I started by stamping, coloring and die cutting three blooms. I added some white accents with a gel pen.   I then used a new stamp for the ground, the stripes from Pink & Main’s pattern maker set.  I used Altenew’s Green Apple ink.  This is my first time using this stamp but I really like how it simulated grassy ground.  Next I stamped the stems and leaves for the three floral images and colored.  Then I cut the card using the largest stitched rectangle die (from My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle Stax set 2) and added the die cut blooms.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

The Flower Challenge Use Your Latest Stamps and Dies. I used plenty of “new” on this card. New Dies:  WPlus9 Doodle Buds, My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Dies. New Stamps: Pink&Main Pattern Maker stamp set.

Humorous But Masculine Valentine

I wanted to create a valentine that would appeal to men and thought a cute \”scene\” card featuring two dogs trying to get together in a florist shop would be fun.  One dog is peering out over the window sill as the other dog is using a crate to try and climb inside.

Humorous Masculine Valentine

To create my scene, I combined the January 2019 My Monthly Hero kit with two pups from MFT\’s Lucky Dog stamp set.    I love both sets! First I created a background using Tim Holtz Stamper\’s Anonymous Bricked Layering Stencil and Simon Says Stamp Hybrid Stone ink.  The stencil was not quite wide enough for the full card so I stenciled the right side and blended toward the middle, then stenciled the left side blending so that my A2 card was fully covered.  I think the bricks turned out well.

Next I stamped (on Xpress It paper), colored (with Copics) and die cut the images with my new Gemini Junior.  I then embossed the sentiment on the window.  Using foam tape, I adhered my scene to the background.
